Description of Event/Crime : NW Impact Detectives C. Cleland and R.
Perea, while working the NW Area Command Holiday Tact Plan, were able to
identify Ward and Barnreiter as suspects in a NW Area Command Felony
Shoplifting. They obtained arrest warrants for the subjects and started
conducting surveillance on possible locations. They located both
suspects in Rio Rancho and made the arrests with the assistance of RRPD.
Both subjects were interviewed and admitted to thefts of over 500 Blue
Ray DVDs at a value at close to $10,000, over 30 thefts of power tools
from hardware stores throughout Albuquerque, and more than a dozen
incidents of theft of high dollar eletronics from eletronic stores
throughout Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. Detectives are working to recover
the stolen merchandise.
