Description of Event/Crime : On 11/30/2011, OCU Detectives arrested
David Mendoza, Carlos Candelaria and Gory Armijo in reference to an
investigation involving the theft of water meters from the City of
Albuquerque valued between $25,000 and $30,000. The three subjects were
transporting and selling the stolen water meters as scrap metal to a
recycling business in Los Lunas. The investigation started as a result
of the Belen Police Department initiating a traffic stop several weeks
ago on a male subject who was in possession of approximately
seventy-five City of Albuquerque water meters. All three subjects
arrested were employed by the City of Albuquerque Water Authority.
