Description of Event/Crime : Armed Robbery Units were conducting a tac
plan in the area of Hotel Circle and Eubank in search of a 1990 Dodge
Van which was used in an armed robbery on August 4,2011. Information was
received the van was in this area when Det. C. Lowe observed a vehicle
matching the description. Det. C. Juarez arrived at the Guesthouse Inn
Hotel and confirmed this was the target vehicle. Information was
obtained from the front desk and a female named Julia Lopez was found to
be using the victim's information to rent the hotel room. An arrest
warrant for Julia was already in place and Julia was seen on
surveillance video renting the room. Detectives knocked and announced at
room #123 and heard a male subject yelling inside saying he was putting
a shirt on. Detectives ordered the male subject outside and the male
later identified as Johnnie Sanchez was taken into custody. As
detectives cleared the room, a female recognized as Julia Lopez was
taken into custody as well. Inside the room detectives observed several
fake ID's and merchandise that obviously did not belong to the suspects.
A search warrant was obtained for the hotel room and during the search
two loaded handguns were found as well as evidence of printing material
used to make fake ID's. A small amount of Methamphetamine was also
found. Johnnie Sanchez was found to be an absconder from probation for
the charges of forgery and was found to be in possession of
methamphetamine. Johnnie was arrested as well as Julia after she
requested an attorney. Several other charges are pending due to the
evidence found in the hotel room and pending the search of the Dodge van
that was sealed.
