We just wanted to clarify a couple of things that was stated earlier today about the Kutz 4 Kidz event. The main purpose of the event was to give children haircuts for school. The secondary purpose was to give them free school supplies. The Albuquerque Police Department worked in partnership with Dream Big, KBanks Productions and Elite Music in order to make this event a success. Thanks to this partnership, about 1,000 children received free haircuts today and were able to enjoy the entertainment, food and positive interactions with police officers. Through donations we were able to supply about 500 kids with backpacks and school supplies. Next year organizers plan to have a larger event in order to give more children haircuts. We would also like to thank the media for their coverage of the event. Without the coverage before and during we would not have seen such a large turnout.
