APD Captures Multi-State Serial Armed Robber

Albuquerque Police located and apprehended multi-state fugitive and serial armed robber, Chris Perea, 27, Friday August 10, 2012.

 

Southeast field officers were dispatched to a suicide call just after 4 p.m. Friday.   An unidentified man called into APD Dispatch stating that he had poisoned himself in an attempt to commit suicide.  He refused to provide his location to the 911 operator, but through investigative techniques was located by officers near the intersection of Indian School and Carlisle NE.

 

As officers called for emergency medical services, they identified the suicidal man as Christopher Perea, locally wanted on four felony warrants and wanted in three states for armed robbery including Colorado and Texas. 

 

Perea was transported to University of New Mexico Hospital for medical treatment and observation, he will be subsequently booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.  The surrounding jurisdictions have been notified of Perea’s apprehension.  Perea has obtained legal counsel and has not made any statements to detectives.
