NW Impact Arrests Former Department Store Employee for Fraud

Description of Event/Crime : Chavez was formerly employed with JC Penny
in their call center. She devised a method to order items online and was
able to lower the prices on merchandise to obtain it for pennies on the
dollar. She used several alias during the process and ordered over $6000
in merchandise. Detective Carl Cleland with NW Impact was able to tie
the orders back to Chavez. NW Impact, Rio Rancho PD SSU, and US Secret
Service conducted an operation on a delivery of stolen merchandise to
Chavez residence. Chavez was arrested after she took possession of the
stolen merchandise and a search warrant was conducted on the residence.
All of the merchandise was recovered, $2300 in cash was siezed along
with a 2005 Chevy Corvette. Chavez was booked into the Sandoval County
Detention Center.
